Help with Downloading
To download data, click on the link for the particular site you are interested in, or click on the link on the All Sites
row to get the whole data set. The data will be downloaded as a compressed zip file. Once the file is downloaded, follow
the directions for your particular operating system to extract the compressed files.
Artifact/Context Data
This data is supplied as a CSV (comma-separated variable) file. This data can be opened in Access or Excel
or imported into several other database formats. Contact us if you have an older version of Access or cannot use Access files.
Images
Images are provided in JPG format; most are in fairly high resolution.
GIS Files
GIS files are provided in ESRI ArcReader PMF format.
Licensing, Citing, and Use of Data
Data is provided under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike
4.0 International License. Data can be used for research and modified as you see fit; attribution is requested for
extensive use of the data.
Data use should be cited as follows: "Data from the Colonial Encounters project (www.colonialencounters.org)." Individual
photos should also include any credit line listed on the associated web page.
